which came first, the chicken or the egg.?

i dont understand why everyone, even scientists, are befuddled by this question.
honestly, i think the answer's fairly simple- the chicken, of course.
not only because if there wasnt the chicken, eggs wouldnt be laid in the first place.
but also, for the egg to develop into an embryo and hatched into a chick, the process of fertilisation and hatching will definitely have to be done- by a hen.(i may be wrong about chicken mechanics of course.) unless you are trying to insinuate that some other animal simply chanced upon
an egg and decided to sit on it for a long time just to see what happens; when out popped a feathery chick. oh please, dont even go there.

therefore, i feel that the point this "intellectual" question is trying to raise through its seemingly paradoxical element is that of a moot one.
instead, the actual question should be: where do chickens come from.?
but then again, we could ask the same of dogs, cats, raccoons, hyenas, etc... and of course humans.
and if one day scientists could ever unravel this ginormous secret, they'd be omnipotent; they'd be God! but by then, this sudden influx of knowledge would probably be too much and overbearing for our minute inapt brain capacity (like Adam and Eve reentering the Garden of Eden and stealing another bite out of the apple from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil) that all the scientists in the world will become stark raving mad!

the advancement of science has pushed God further and further away. in the areas where science has yet to reach, God exists.
